MERRILLVILLE, IN – Regional Mental Health Center recently dedicated its Merrillville Outpatient Services clinic as the Borto Building of Regional Mental Health Center at a ceremony on July 20, 2017. The dedication honored late board member, Ronald Borto, for his twenty-nine years of service and commitment to community mental health care.
For nearly thirty years, Mr. Borto advocated for quality, readily accessible treatment for substance abuse and mental health care in Northwest Indiana. His board tenure also oversaw the mental health center growth—from 3,000 clients in 1994 to over 15,000 clients in 2016.
“Ronald Borto was an integral part of growing the breadth and depth of services provided at Regional Mental Health Center and its sites,” said Bob Krumwied, president and chief executive officer at Regional Mental Health Center.
Mr. Borto is also an Angel Award Recipient. The award recognizes individuals whose support and encouragement have furthered the development of mental health care within the community.

The Merrillville site, located at 1441 E 84th Place, provides community-based services for children in addition to outpatient mental health services for both adults and children. A plaque dedicating the building to Mr. Borto and recognizing him for the award will be placed on the building.
Regional Mental Health Center works with Geminus Corporation to help, heal and build stronger communities through comprehensive continuum of patient care—care that supports a patient’s emotional, physical and cognitive well-being. With sites located throughout Lake and Porter counties, Regional offers Indiana and Illinois residents emergency mental health services, mental illness treatment, alcohol and substance abuse treatment programs in addition to primary health care at three federally qualified health centers in Northern Lake County.
